Regulations
The National Library of Education is the main library at The Department of Education, Aarhus University, and the main national collection for educational research in Denmark.
The library is open to the public and the collections may be used freely by everyone.
Anyone over 18 years of age and with a fixed abode in Denmark may be enrolled as a borrower. The library may choose to exempt individuals from both the rule of minimum age and the rule of fixed abode. The Danish Social Security Card (Sygesikringsbevis) is used as library card.
The library must immediately be informed of any address changes.
Entering a loan as a borrower implies a personal responsibility for the material and for its safe return.
The loan period is normally one month. Other loan periods may be fixed for certain types of material.
Returns are only accepted at the library itself.
Articles in periodicals and other materials which cannot be borrowed, but can be photocopied, may be copied at the current price on the copiers in the library fitted with card readers. Periodicals on loan have a loan period of a fortnight.
Special rules apply to the Collection of Children's Literature: All loans must be for the purpose of study or research.
Materials borrowed from other libraries are subject to the loan rules of the owning library.
When a borrower makes a loan he, or she, receives a receipt. The date for making the return, printed on the receipt must be abided by.
If no other borrower has reserved the material, the borrower can extend the loan period according to the loan period for the certain type of material.
A loan is considered returned when the receiption of the material is registred at National Libary of Education (DPB). When returning a loan the borrower receives a receipt dokumenting the return of the material. In a matter of dispute this receipt is the borrower's proof in a legal sense, and should be kept for a year.
Overdue loans.
Seven days after the expiry date of the loan period a fee on 25 DKK per unit is levied and 31 days after the expiry date the fee increases to 50 DKK per unit. As a service two notices are sent out, one before and one after the fee is levied. The fee must be paid even if the borrower has not received any notice of return.
36 days after the expiry date a claim will be issued. The claim for the material is variable. There is a replacement cost on at least 150 DKK per unit dependent on the loan. Futhermore there is a overdue notice fee on 50 DKK per unit and a billing fee on 150 DKK.
The fees must be paid whether the material is returned or not. If the claim for payment is not meet, the claim will be sent to SKAT, Inddrivelsescenteret for collection by legal means.
Damaged - or lost material, when loaned, must be paid by the borrower. Underlining and notes in the material is considered damaging.
Borrowers who repeatedly disregard the return dates or have an outstanding account of 200 DKK or more in fees, are barred from additional loans until all accounts are settled.
